Italian tomato: from organic cultivation to the plate

Posted by Luigi Langellotti on

Our Italian organic tomato puree could not exist without the protection enjoyed by crops based on natural processes and limited interventions that exclude the use of chemical products.
In this article we clarify this practice which still generates some confusion.

Organic farming: definition

The cultivation of organic products is characterized by the refusal to use pesticides, herbicides and chemical fertilizers, by the commitment to reducing the environmental impact on land, water and air and by the use of natural biological control to combat parasites without exposing the cultivations with synthetic agents.
Furthermore, the philosophy behind organic products tends to maintain biodiversity, preserve local ecological balances, improve soil fertility and maintain high water and air quality.
To the question " what is organic farming ?", therefore, we can answer briefly that organic farming corresponds to the action of cultivating using exclusively substances present in nature.

Organic farming: pros and cons

The advantages linked to organic crops are numerous: we go from the absence of residues of chemical substances harmful to health to the enrichment of the soil generated by crop rotation, from greater yields in drought conditions compared to traditional crops to a higher resistance to weeds in the soil used for this type of cultivation.
At the same time, however, it is necessary to admit that organic farming also presents two disadvantages to take into consideration: on the one hand we find a greater consumption of land due to a lower general yield, on the other a significant fracture with the more innovative branches of genetic manipulation that aim to obtain more abundant, healthy and market-friendly harvests.

Organic tomato: meaning and characteristics

In light of the above, the organic tomato is the result of cultivation that respects the rhythms of nature and its purest fertility. The only way to promote a tomato and its derivatives as organic, therefore, is to be able to count on producers who embrace this particular philosophy with passion and transparency.
For our line of organic products, we at Inserbo exclusively select tomatoes grown by Italian farms that do not use synthetic chemicals and work to promote full respect for the environment that hosts them.
This allows us to put a 100% natural, good and healthy product in a jar, also perfect for feeding little ones.

In our showcase dedicated to organic you can find organic peeled tomatoes in juice or natural, tasty fillets of long-fruited cherry tomatoes or natural tomatoes, velvety puree and full-bodied pulp: click here and let your mouth water choose.
